HEALTH
Scripture
I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
3 JOHN 1:2
If you enjoy this gratitude challenge, please pin it so others can find it to!

Historical Context
John wrote this personal letter to his dear friend Gaius, who was apparently dealing with some health challenges while faithfully still serving God and helping traveling missionaries. In the ancient world, medical knowledge was limited, and people relied heavily on prayer and community support during illness. John’s prayer shows us that physical health matters to God – not as the ultimate goal, but as something that enables us to serve Him and others more fully while we’re here on earth.
Related Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 / Psalm 139:14
Application
Your health – whether excellent, not great, or somewhere in between – is a gift worth celebrating and stewarding well. This doesn’t mean you have to be perfectly healthy to be valuable to God, but rather that your body is precious to Him and deserves care, respect, and gratitude. Even when dealing with illness, chronic conditions, or physical limitations, you can still appreciate the amazing things your body accomplishes and trust God to use you powerfully regardless of your health status.
Reflection
- What aspects of your physical health do you tend to take for granted – your ability to walk, see, breathe easily, or sleep peacefully? How would regular gratitude for these “ordinary” functions change your daily perspective?
- If you’re dealing with health challenges, where can you still see God’s grace and provision in your body’s ability to heal, adapt, or simply keep going? How has illness taught you things about God’s strength or others’ care that you might not have noticed otherwise?
- How does viewing your body as God’s temple change the way you think about eating, exercising, resting, and caring for your physical needs? What’s one small step you could take today to better steward this gift?

Prayer
Loving God,
Thank You for the incredible gift of my body and health. Help me not to take for granted the amazing things my body does every day – breathing, healing, moving, and allowing me to experience Your beautiful world.
Whether I’m dealing with illness or enjoying good health, remind me that my body is Your temple and deserves to be cared for with gratitude and wisdom.
Use me to serve You and love others well, regardless of my physical limitations.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
