Easter Saturday is probably the most overlooked day of the Holy Week – One that has some incredibly important lessons to teach!
The Bible tells us almost nothing about this day. There were no miracles and no sermons. Just a cold tomb, sealed with a rock and a group of heartbroken followers in stunned grief.
They didn’t yet know Sunday was coming!
All they knew was this: Jesus, their beloved friend and Messiah, was dead. The man who had calmed the storms, raised the dead, and promised eternal life was now dead in a borrowed grave.
The silence and the grief were overwhelming.
But the silence was not emptiness.
Easter Saturday teaches us that very often God works most powerfully when he seems silent and far away.
In the dark of the tomb, when everyone believed hope was gone, one of the greatest miracles of all time was taking place, and no one could see it!
Easter Saturday is a reminder for anyone who has ever sat in the “in-between”. If that’s where you are today, take heart: God is still writing your story, and Sunday is coming!
Today’s Bible Verse
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Devotional Reflection: Three Truths For The Waiting
1. God Meets Us in the Silence
The disciples didn’t know the Resurrection was hours away. All they felt was loss. Yet even in their despair, God was preparing the greatest turnaround in history!
Are you in a season of waiting? What if God is preparing something deeper than you can imagine?
2. Jesus Entered Our Deepest Darkness
Early Christians confessed in the Apostles’ Creed that Jesus “descended to the dead.” They believed that He didn’t just die—He went to death’s domain, ensuring that not even the grave could separate us from Him (Romans 8:38-39).
How does it comfort you that Jesus has been to the darkest places—and emerged victorious?
3. Sabbath Rest in Sorrow And Waiting
Holy Saturday was also the Jewish Sabbath—a day of rest. It’s interesting that the day of silence is also the day of forced rest. Sometimes, God’s greatest work happens when we stop striving and simply trust.
Where do you need to “be still” (Psalm 46:10) and let God work?

Daily Affirmation
Even in the silence, God is working. I trust in His plan and wait patiently for His promises.
Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus. As I reflect on Holy Saturday, help me to trust in Your timing, even when I don’t understand.
Teach me to wait with hope, knowing that You are always at work. Prepare my heart for the joy of Easter and the new life You offer.
Strengthen my faith during silent seasons, and help me to support others in their times of waiting.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
