Today Give Thanks For
SALVATION THROUGH JESUS
Scripture
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
EPHESIANS 2:8-9

Historical Context
Paul wrote this verse to the Ephesian church to help fight a growing problem: people were starting to think they could earn their way to God through good deeds, religious rituals, or moral perfection. The Ephesians lived in a culture obsessed with performance and status, where your worth depended on what you accomplished. Paul needed to remind them that salvation is completely different – it’s a free gift that can’t be earned, bought, or deserved.
Related Scriptures: Romans 5:8 / Titus 3:5
Application
In a world that constantly tells us we need to prove our worth, God says something else: “You’re already loved, and there’s nothing you can do to earn it or lose it.” This isn’t about being lazy or careless with our lives, but rather about resting in the incredible truth that your relationship with God doesn’t depend on your performance. You don’t have to be perfect, have it all together, or fix yourself first. God’s love and salvation come to you exactly as you are.
Reflection
- What does it mean to you that you don’t have to earn God’s love? Take a moment to soak that in – God loves you, right now, as you are. No hoops to jump through, just open arms.
- When do you find it hardest to accept God’s free gift of grace? Be honest – are there times you feel like you need to ‘measure up’? How could you let go of that today?
- If someone asked you why God would give such an incredible gift for free, what would you tell them? How does receiving this unearned gift affect how you treat others?
- Are there any areas of your life where you still try to “earn” God’s approval? How would it feel to truly rest in the truth that His love for you is already complete?

“Amazing Grace” by Chris Tomlin
Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Thank You for the incredible gift of salvation that I could never earn or deserve. Help me to stop trying to prove my worth to You and instead rest in Your amazing grace. When I’m tempted to think I need to do more to be loved by You, remind me that Your love is already complete and perfect. Fill my heart with such gratitude for this gift that I can’t help but share Your love with others.
In Your precious name, Amen.
