Love That Pursues
Have you ever felt forgotten or overlooked—like no one was paying attention to your story, your pain, or your presence?
This is a lonely place to be!
We live in a world where love often can feel conditional and attention fleeting, Jeremiah 31:3 breaks through with a radical truth:
God’s love is not a transaction—it’s a pursuit. It’s not just a feeling He has; it’s an action He takes.
This verse was given to a people who had wandered far from God. They had messed up. Rejected His ways. Found themselves in exile and brokenness.
And what does God do? He comes near. He reminds them, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” Not past tense. Not maybe-if-you-shape-up kind of love. But steady, enduring, never-ending love.
And not only that—He says, “I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” In other words, “I’ve been pulling you back—not with guilt, not with pressure—but with grace.”
The truth is, we all wander. We all have seasons where we drift, doubt, or hide. But God’s response isn’t to withdraw.
He leans in.
He draws us back with kindness, not punishment. He comes close, not because we’ve been perfect, but because He’s always been loving.

Understanding Today’s Verse
Let’s unpack Jeremiah 31:3:
- “I have loved you…” – This isn’t a new decision. God’s love for you didn’t begin the day you prayed a prayer or started going to church. He’s loved you from the start.
- “…with an everlasting love.” – This love is not seasonal, fragile, or based on your performance. It’s eternal. It doesn’t end when you fall or forget Him.
- “I have drawn you…” – This shows God is the initiator. You didn’t find Him by accident—He’s been gently leading you toward Himself.
- “…with unfailing kindness.” – Not with a harsh voice or heavy hand. God pulls you in with kindness. He knows your heart, your pain, your doubts—and still, He comes close with compassion.
This verse isn’t just poetic. It’s deeply personal. It’s God whispering, “I haven’t stopped loving you. I haven’t given up on you. I’m still pursuing you.”

Closing Prayer
Father,
Thank You for loving me with a love that never quits. Thank You for chasing me with kindness, not condemnation. Help me to stop running and to let myself be held by You. Show me how to rest in Your love and reflect it to others. I want to live each day knowing I am pursued, seen, and cherished by You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
